We provide key word sign (also known as baby sign language) training and early intervention services for children with speech and language delays.

Baby Sign Language / KWS
Baby sign language and key word sign (KWS) are wonderful tools that parents, carers and early childhood educators can use to support communication with children before they can speak. Here at Baby Sign, we borrow signs from Auslan (Australian Sign Language) and use them with speech to help pre- and non-verbal children communicate with their loved ones.
We offer a range of solutions to meet the diverse needs of different family situations. Our weekly Melbourne playgroup classes are perfect for babies and toddlers. If you can’t make it to an in-person session, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with online courses for families right across Australia.

NDIS Key Word Sign Classes & Sessions
Key word sign is a powerful tool that allows children to communicate before they can talk. For kids with significant speech and language delays, it can be a game changer. While speech is still developing, using KWS is a communication support that empowers children to ask for their wants and needs and share about things that are of interest to them – great for their wellbeing. KWS is a complementary intervention that can be used alongside speech therapy for best results.
Here at Baby Sign, we provide holistic early intervention using play-based strategies to support language and communication for children with a range of disabilities and diagnoses. In-home or in-clinic sessions available in Melbourne. For families across Australia, telehealth is available.

Auslan for babies is how it all started!
Baby sign language classes are a great way for parents to learn how they can best support their babies, toddlers and even older kids’ speech and language.
If you’re in and around the northern suburbs of Melbourne, the eight-week playgroup class is a great way to connect with other families, learn new signs and how to best support your child’s development. As always, if you’re a little further away, we have you covered with a fully comprehensive online course which includes over 100 signs, how to get started and what you can do to support your child’s development so they can thrive.

KWS Professional Development
Key word sign professional development is a great opportunity for professionals across multiple sectors including early childhood education and care, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists – anyone working with children in the early years. In-person professional development is available across Melbourne and online sessions available Australia-wide.
More than just KWS, Baby Sign professional development leaves the team with in-depth knowledge about language development, early learning strategies, like how to utilise spontaneous play for best results, and embedding a language perspective throughout your practice to close the gap for children at risk.
